For centuries, Wu Dang Mountain has been China's premier center for Taoist internal martial arts training, including Tai Chi, swordmanship and Qi Gong. Wu Dang Mountain is the legendary birthplace of Tai Chi Chuan, said to have been created there by the Taoist hermit Zhang Sanfeng in the 13th century. Wu Dang has an important feature in director Ang Lee's worlwide hit film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
In July 2006, 32 Taoist priests from Wu Dang made an historical trip to Austin, Texas. While there, the Wu Dang priests( men and women ranging in age fron 19-80) performed their world famous Taoist martial arts (kung fu or wushu) and Taoist ceremonial music, comlplete with swords, costumes and traditional Chinese instruments. This one of a kind video records their breaktaking performances, included added scenes from their rarely seen sacred ceremonies performed for the people of Austin - now for all to experience here.
